Consciously considered cultivation system
We believe that working with nature is better for people, the environment and the quality of our products. For us, cooperation with nature starts in the soil. The soil life, nutrients and organic matter must be in balance to provide the ultimate nutritious environment for cultivating our crops.

BOTS
Our products are grown according to the proprietary cultivation system BOTS, with an emphasis on the environment and the biodiversity of the surrounding area. Bees and other insects are of great importance for our cultivation. 1% of the area is therefore used by us for field edges and meadows full of flowers and herbs. We have also placed insect hotels at our cultivators to stimulate pollinators. Just look around you in the Netherlands, who knows you will see the hotels and colorful flower meadows at our cultivators!
Our cultivation system goes a step further than others. It is an umbrella system in which other quality marks, such as PlanetProof, are included and considered ‘normal’.
On the way to PlanetProof
For years we have been cultivating under the quality mark PlanetProof and fortunately we see that this quality mark is nowadays more and more top-of-mind with retailers and consumers. This independent certification shows that our products are produced more sustainably and are therefore a better choice for nature, climate and animals.
Some of the requirements for meeting this mark are, for example, the use of high quality water, a fertile soil and cleaner air and more nature on the farms. In this way, the products that are cultivated can grow as sustainably as possible. The result is not only purer products, but also a great contribution to the environment. What we do now, we will see back later.
To lend a hand to Mother Nature, we, together with all our growers, support the insects and bees in the vicinity of the fields.
Nutri-score
A Nutri-score allows products to score from A to E. Each score has a color. Score A is for products with the healthiest composition and has a green color. Score E is for products with the least healthy composition and has a red color. The score is based on the amount of calories, sugars, saturated fat, salt, protein, fiber, fruit, vegetables and nuts in a product. At Jansen-Dongen we strive for healthy, sustainable products. We start with that already in the breeding process with the choice of new, improved varieties.
Skal
The moment a product is produced organically, it receives a Skal label. Skal is an independent supervisor of the demonstrable reliability of organic products in the Netherlands. Our organic vegetables are sold exclusively under this label.
Global Gap
For example, our onions are guaranteed with the Global Gap label. This label has certain requirements for the quality system and covers food safety, the environment including biodiversity, health, safety and employee welfare.
There is no world without insects.
BeeDeals
Without bees there is no nature. To help the bees and other insects, and to give something back to nature, we work together with several cultivators who grow their potatoes and carrots on land with adjacent flowery field margins. These field margins are specially sown, with a mixture of seeds, to grow flowers that provide room for wild bees, honey bees and other useful insects. Bees pollinate food crops and are therefore vital to our food supply.
Zero waste
Getting everything out of it. We think wasting food is a sin. Our vegetables are grown with passion and care into beautiful products with versatile processing possibilities. We see it as a challenge to use everything in the product and transform it into a high-quality end product. In this way we want to contribute to a world without waste.
Improve living environment
In total, we have over 100,000m2 available to scatter seeds to create idylls. In this way we promote a sustainable living environment for bees and other pollinators, thus safeguarding and increasing biodiversity and the food supply. In addition, together with five potato growers and a supermarket, we have concluded a Bee Deal. In this unique chain approach, parties make joint agreements to improve the habitat of honey bees and wild bees.
